My Verdict ♥ ♥ ♥ 1/2
Madam, will you talk? By Mary Stewart
Bookshelves: Suspense, Mystery, Crime, Romance
I'd give it a 3 and a half hearts, it was an enjoyable read. A nice balance of suspense and thrill with some adrenaline pumping moments. I felt the author didn't really make charity known to us in the most thorough manner. I wanted to know more about her story, her life in general - her past mainly. But it's probably my preference to have characters that come with long detailed pasts and life stories.
I found the romance between Charity and Richard a bit unnatural though. I mean, it's one thing to give a man framed for murder a chance, even care for him and feel his misery but coming down to love so soon? Specially from Richard, that was so unexpected. I was actually surprised when I read him saying so. I can imagine an instant attraction or beginnings of a romance maybe which would have gradually led to a wedding in the future but not this instant kind. I thought Charity was a bit mature for that. But then again, we are all fools in love. There is just no explaining our actions, is there? I guess what disappointed me was the absence of Richard and Charity's story together. I felt cheated to be given their beginning and the ending. Where was the middle bit?
But it all ended well I guess. Good for David, he finally gets a home and Richard too!
